Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has expressed delight to have scored his first Premier League goal against West Ham on Sunday.
Isak, who had looked short of form and fitness, spurned two opportunities before the break, drawing a fine reaction stop from Areola midway through the half.
But the Sweden striker slotted home a Cody Gakpo pull-back on the hour mark to give the Reds the lead they marginally deserved and rarely looked like giving up.
Reacting after the game, the Sweden international in a chat with Sky Sports, expressed his delight at opening his league goal account for the Reds, but admits he is far from his best.

“I’m aware that it has been a long time coming and I have been trying to get back to my best form. I’m still on the way, but I am happy to get that goal.
“The best feeling today is that we won the game, and that is the best way to get a good spirit in the group, but of course, I am a striker, so scoring goals will always help me.
“We have to use this win in a good way, but also be humble. We have to stay focused and keep working hard to keep this momentum.”
