2025 pre-AFCON: Salah, Marmoush may miss Egypt’s friendly with Super Eagles

The duo of Mohammed Salah of Liverpool and Manchester City Omar Marmoush are on the verge of missing the Pharaohs of Egypt friendly against the Super Eagles as their respective clubs are not willing to release them on time for the tournament.

The friendly will serve as part of Egypt and Nigeria’s preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is currently awaiting official responses from Liverpool and Manchester City regarding the release of Salah and Marmoush for the friendly.

According to Filgoal, Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has handed full responsibility of negotiations to EFA President Hani Abu Rida, who has already opened communication with Liverpool and Manchester City in an effort to secure the services of the two attackers.

Egypt will host the Super Eagles in the friendly in Cairo on December 14.

Both nations are expected to field competitive lineups, making the friendly one of the major pre-AFCON tests for them.
