The Zamfara State Government says it has completed the remodeling of four emirate palaces and plans to construct six more by 2026 as part of efforts to enhance the welfare of traditional rulers across the state.

Governor Dauda Lawal, represented by his deputy, Malam Mani Mummuni, disclosed this during an engagement in Kaura Namoda.

He said the government remained committed to supporting traditional institutions due to their vital role in maintaining peace and stability.

“We have completed four standard emir palaces that can compete with any other in the country except the Sultanate Council,” the deputy governor said.

Mummuni added that the administration would continue to prioritise the needs of royal fathers, acknowledging their contributions to harmony within their domains.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ahmad Garban Yandi, said the state plans to build six additional emirate palaces by the end of 2026, bringing the total to 10 out of the 19 emirates.

“Apart from the completed emirates of Anka, Tsafe, Kaura Namoda and Moriki, we will build another six by 2026. When we return for a second term, we will complete the rest,” he said.

Garban Yandi also disclosed plans to build and remodel Juma’at mosques across the state. “We visited Talata Mafara and even today we conducted an assessment on another Juma’at mosque to be remodeled. We will continue to do more,” he added.

The deputy governor further revealed that Governor Lawal has personally funded the construction of several mosques but prefers not to publicise it.

“I once asked the governor why he never mentions the number of mosques he has built. As politicians, we expect such things to be publicised, but he told me it is between him and his Lord and there is no need to announce it,” Mummuni said.
