In a strategic move widely interpreted as part of his early preparations for a potentially tough 2027 re-election contest, the lawmaker representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has approved a major shake-up in his media operations with the appointment of Comrade Abdullateef Ishowo as Director of a newly created Directorate of Media and Strategic Communications.

The appointment was announced on Saturday by Barrister Alabi Abdulkareem, Executive Assistant to the Senator, who explained that the new directorate forms part of a broader effort to strengthen and modernize the Senator’s communication machinery.

According to the statement, the restructuring aims to enhance information flow, deepen public engagement, and project the Senator’s activities more effectively — a move considered crucial as political undercurrents in Kwara intensify ahead of 2027.

Comrade Abdullateef Ishowo, a respected media professional and one of the most influential voices in the Kwara media landscape, brings decades of experience, a strong professional network, and a keen understanding of political communication and public perception.

He will work alongside Mr. Nasif Sholagberu, who retains his role as Media Assistant to the Senator, ensuring continuity within the team while expanding its strategic capacity.

Ishowo is expected to deploy his extensive goodwill, exposure, and media expertise to drive a more robust communication strategy for Senator Mustapha — particularly as the Senator positions himself for what observers say may be one of the most competitive senatorial battles in Kwara Central’s recent political history.
