Yari Roundtable plans interfaith peace parley in Plateau, Kano

The Yari Roundtable for Inter-Religious Harmony has announced plans to hold another high-level interfaith peace parley on Thursday, December 4, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen unity and deepen understanding among Christian and Muslim stakeholders in Plateau and Kano States.

In a statement, the organisers said the forum would bring together prominent Islamic and Christian clerics, traditional rulers, civil society groups, youth leaders and other key community influencers from both states.

The meeting is expected to build on the gains of the Roundtable’s recently concluded engagement in Abuja, which drew commendation for fostering constructive dialogue among religious leaders across the North.

Dr. Mohammed Kassim, who signed the statement on behalf of the organisers, said the initiative aims to consolidate ongoing conversations around peaceful coexistence and inter-religious cooperation, while also developing sustainable frameworks for conflict prevention.

“The Yari Roundtable has created a platform for honest dialogue, where leaders can collectively examine the root causes of conflicts and articulate actionable solutions that promote lasting peace”.

The Plateau–Kano parley is expected to review recent communal challenges and outline strategies for rebuilding trust between various faith-based groups, especially in communities that have witnessed recurrent violence.

According to the organisers, the summit aligns with the Roundtable’s broader mission of promoting unity, tolerance and harmony across northern communities. They expressed confidence that the engagement would contribute significantly to ongoing peacebuilding efforts and reinforce the importance of collaborative partnerships among religious institutions.

At the end of the meeting, participants are expected to issue a joint communiqué detailing resolutions and renewed commitments aimed at deepening interfaith collaboration and supporting long-term peace initiatives across the region.
