The Kebbi Progressive Youths (KEPYO) has urged the former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to suspend his political aspirations and focus on addressing his ongoing issues with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi state capital, the group’s spokesperson, Comrade Usman Musa, said their position followed Malami’s confirmation via social media that he had been invited by the EFCC.

KEPYO commended Malami for expressing readiness to honour the invitation but advised him to channel his energy towards clearing his name of both current and past allegations, urging him against mentioning Governor Nasir Idris in his ongoing travail which is alleged to have been committed when Idris was not in office.

The group insisted that Kebbi people deserve leaders without the baggage of corruption accusations, stressing that no community wants to be tied to a politician struggling with such controversies.
