The Kogi State Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH ) Osara has disclosed that a total of 31 graduands will bag First Class degrees and 235 other in the combined 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 Maiden Convocation of the University coming up on Saturday.
This is just as a total of 266 with various classes of degrees will receive original copies of their certificates, making the University first of its kinds marking off statement of Results.
He said the results of the first and Second sets of graduands are testament to both the brilliance of the students and the dedication of faculties to produce graduates of global excellence, making her the University of choice to parents and admission seekers.
The Vice Chancellor, Engineer Professor Abdulraman Asipita Salawu disclosed this in a Pre Convocation Press briefing held in the Conference hall of the University on Thursday in Osara, Adavi Local Government of the State.
The VC said the institution is achieving her mandate of training students that will be skilled in human resources , science: engineering, computing and cutting edge research to address the immediate development needs of kogi state, Nigeria and across the globe.
Professor Salawu disclosed further that the five years old University has demonstrated uncommon feat as it has developed AI word translator into Igala, Ebira and Yoruba languages,even as the drones built has can be deployed.
He said with commitment of the Government and the Management,the University that took off with two faculties and 11 Departments five years ago now has 8 faculties and a college with 44 academic departments including Medicine and Law with over five thousand students making her one of the fastest growing Universities in the country.
He disclosed that in a bid to maintain excellence, the University has partnered with some reputable agencies in Nigeria and across the globe such as Power Equipment and Electrical Machinery Development Institute (PEEMADI), Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute NKFI, NIOMCO; Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, L-PRES ; Energy Commission of Nigeria , with the establishment of Barefoot Renewable Energy college and provision of Hydrogen Energy, stating that the linkages with MIDAS IT of India has provided School and other 14 Universities of which CUSTECH is the only state University to benefit from the $17,437,500 US Dollars.
According to him , the University has maintained cordial relationship with TETFUND benefiting from the high impact intervention from the inception and has been adjudged to be the best two universities in the country in the efficient utilisation of the fund.
He said in its high impact intervention from 2021 to date has executed projects that have direct bearing to teaching and learning and improvement of conducive environment for students, staff and the management.
He commended the immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his foresight in establishing the University to provide opportunities forv numerous indigenes for University placement and his successor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for sustaining the tempo that has place the institution as first choice for thousands of admission seekers.
He called on spirited Nigerians and Organisations to partner with the school in building public Private Partnership in Hostel Accommodation, staff Quarters, Banks to open branches in the community, construction of pedestrian bridge, and provision of tractor for academic research and warned against encroachment on the University land, which he described as legacy and sustainability asset.
