Paris Saint-Germain appear to be warming again to the idea of signing Victor Osimhen after manager Luis Enrique quietly shifted from his earlier hardline stance on the Nigerian striker.
For much of the year, Enrique was believed to be unconvinced about bringing Osimhen into the dressing room, with worries over his temperament said to be a sticking point. Those concerns seem to have eased.
A drop in form from Gonçalo Ramos, along with deeper reviews of PSG’s attacking balance, has pushed the club to take another look at the former Napoli striker, according to transfer analyst Ekrem Konour.
“PSG is now seriously considering the idea of a recruitment as early as next summer, proof that Luis Enrique no longer rules out such a profile,” Konour told Goal.
The change of heart has revived internal debates at PSG about the shape of their frontline. Konour explained that the rethink is tied to the limitations seen in the team’s current structure. He added, “Osimhen has therefore become a credible option once again, especially if PSG’s current number nine decides to leave.”
Osimhen’s current club, Galatasaray, insist they have no intention of letting him go during the winter window. They want him to finish the season in Turkey. Even so, football insiders quietly believe a huge bid or a direct request from Osimhen could prompt a reconsideration.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation. Barcelona see him as a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski, while Madrid are weighing up their options in the event of a future reshuffle involving Vinicius Junior.
Reports from Spain suggest Madrid view Osimhen as an ideal striker who can restore balance in their attack and allow Kylian Mbappé to operate from the left side with greater freedom.
Spanish outlet Fichajes reported that Madrid think Osimhen’s mix of pace, power and natural finishing ability would make him an instant threat.
PSG, however, appear to have the financial muscle to outbid their rivals. The French champions can offer a salary package and transfer fee that Barcelona may find impossible to match.
Konour said, “The clubs involved do not operate with the same financial power. PSG have far greater resources than Barcelona and are capable of submitting an offer that Galatasaray would struggle to refuse.
“In addition, PSG can provide Osimhen with a much higher salary, placing the French champions in a favourable position. Luis Enrique’s new position further strengthens this advantage and elevates the strategic importance of the deal.”
