Armed bandits on Tuesday ambushed and killed a mobile police operative attached to Operation Restore Peace in Adabka village, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The officer, deployed from Mopol 15 Squadron in Ilorin, Kwara State, was travelling alone from his duty post in Adabka to nearby Tibis village to purchase essential supplies when the attack occurred at about 11:44 a.m.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the policeman was shot dead at the outskirts of Adabka by bandits hiding in surrounding bushes.
The assailants fled with his service riot gun.A rapid-response team later recovered the officer’s body and evacuated it to Adabka Primary Health Care Centre for necessary documentation and handover.
Sources familiar with bandit operations in the area said the attack bears the hallmark of groups loyal to notorious kingpins Dan-Karama Gwaska and the Dansadau emirate network, who frequently carry out targeted ambushes before melting back into the forest.
