EPL: 10-man Everton humiliate Manchester United

Everton claimed a surprising 1–0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday despite playing with 10 men for more than 75 minutes.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 13th minute after Idrissa Gueye was sent off for slapping his teammate Michael Keane during a heated exchange. Referee Tony Harrington showed the Senegal midfielder a straight red card, a decision later confirmed by VAR.

United were expected to dominate after the incident, but they struggled to create clear chances against David Moyes’ organised side. Everton took the lead in the 29th minute through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who drove forward and curled a superb effort into the top corner after beating Bruno Fernandes and Leny Yoro.

Jordan Pickford made key saves in the first half, including pushing away a long-range effort from Fernandes. United manager Ruben Amorim introduced Mason Mount at half-time and later brought on Kobbie Mainoo and Diogo Dalot, but his team remained blunt in attack.

Pickford produced another big stop late in the game, denying a powerful header from Joshua Zirkzee as Everton held firm to secure the win.

Everton had earlier lost captain Seamus Coleman to injury in the 10th minute, and the match saw the first Premier League red card issued for a player fighting a teammate since 2008.

The Premier League Match Centre confirmed on X that Gueye’s dismissal was for violent conduct after a clear strike to Keane’s face.
