Zamfara Police Storm Bandit Hideout, Rescue 25 Abducted Victims



In a swift and decisive operation, the Zamfara State Police Command has successfully rescued 25 abducted persons – 10 women and 15 children, after armed bandits attacked Kuraje village in the Damba area of Gusau Local Government Area.

The attack occurred on Thursday, November 21, 2025, at approximately 9:45 p.m., when a large group of heavily armed bandits stormed the community, firing indiscriminately and abducting the victims.

Acting on a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Damba Division quickly mobilized a joint team comprising police operatives from the Department of Operations, Gusau, and members of the Community Protection Guards (CPG).

The security team pursued the bandits into their enclave, engaged them in a fierce gun battle, and successfully overpowered the criminals, rescuing all 25 hostages unharmed.

The rescued victims were immediately moved to Sabongari Damba for safety and medical attention, and were reunited with their families on Sunday morning.

The Zamfara Police Command has vowed to intensify operations to track down the fleeing bandits and prevent further attacks on vulnerable communities in the state.Residents have commended the police and local guards for their bravery and rapid response.
