Following the demised of the Late Emir of Zuru, Maj.Gen(rtd) Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II, the Zuru Election Committee has begun the selection processes to select the late Emir’s successor.
The Committee,in a public notice signed by it Chairman,Maj. Gen.(rtd) Mohammad Magoro,had notified all the Emir’s Lineages, entitled to the throne and princes, who have interest of the throne,to submit their intent application before 5pm of Monday,August 25,2025.
According to the statement, “the Zuru Emirate Emirship Election Committee wishes to announce with deep sorrow the passing on of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zuru, Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Muhammadu Sani Sami CON, mni, FICEN, Sami Gomo II, who died in the early hours of Saturday, 16 August 2025, at a clinic in London. His Royal Highness has since been Inid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites on Friday, 22 August 2025.
“In line with the customs and traditions of the Emirate, and in accordance with the established guidelines for succession, the Zuru Emirate Emirship Election Committee hereby invites all interested and eligible princes to submit their formal expressions of interest for consideration for the esteemed position of Emir of Zuru.
” Interested candidates are required to submit four copies of their letters of intent, along with relevant documentation verifying their lineage, to the Emirship Election Committee not later than Monday 25th of August 2025 at 5:00pm deadline, All submissions must be in sealed envelopes and addressed to: Emirship Election Committee, Zuru Emirate Council, Zura, Kebbi State.”.
Magoro added that,the Committee will review all applications in line with the laws, and and will invite approved applicants on Tuesday 26th August, 2025 by 10:00am at the Emir’s Palace for election.
“We pray for the peaceful repose of our late Emir’s soul and seek the guidance of the Almighty Allah in election of a worthy successor”.
