President Tinubu to declare open Big Sports Dialogue 1.0 in Lagos


President Bola Tinubu is slated to declare the Big Sports Dialogue 1.0 open on Monday in Lagos, organisers say.

The dialogue is designed to address pressing issues plaguing Nigerian sports and to reshape the country’s sports ecosystem.

It aims to bring together key stakeholders and policymakers to chart a path for a more vibrant and sustainable sporting sector.

Leading voices at the event include:
Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), and the NSC’s Director-General, Bukola Olopade.

Others are Philip Shaibu, director-general of the National Institute of Sports, Mike Itemuagbor, a renowned sports marketing expert, Igoche Mark, prominent basketball promoter, Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi, seasoned journalist, Rufai Oseni, Arise TV morning show host and Amaju Pinnick, former president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF)

Osaze Ebueku, chairman of the Local Organising Committee, described the event as a “call to action for all Nigerians to come together and shape the future of sports in the country.”

Organisers say the dialogue will feature high-level discussions, policy recommendations, and partnerships aimed at revitalising Nigeria’s sports infrastructure, governance, funding, talent development, and international competitiveness.
