Katsina United head coach, Mohammed Azeez Audu, has declared that his team is fully prepared and under “no pressure whatsoever” as they face Enyimba FC in an NPFL showdown on Monday in Ilorin.
The match, originally slated for Katsina, will hold in the Kwara State capital following the NPFL’s decision to banish the team after a recent incident of fans’ unruly behaviour.
But for Audu, the change of venue is anything but a setback.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, the former Kwara United gaffer exuded confidence, insisting his side is primed for maximum points.
“I am not under any pressure whatsoever and I have spoken to my boys to make them prepared for the game,” he said. “Yes, we respect Enyimba. But we don’t fear them.”
Audu, who will be coaching on familiar turf, believes his connection to Ilorin gives his team an emotional edge.
“Ilorin is my second home. I have coached Kwara United before, so I know the fans will support my team,” he added.
Despite Enyimba’s pedigree in the league, the Katsina United boss dismissed the possibility of the People’s Elephant standing in his way.
“I need the three points at stake and I don’t see how Enyimba can stop us,” he declared.
Audu also hailed the steady improvement in the NPFL, noting that the usual dominance of home teams has waned.
“We have an increasingly improving league where home advantage no longer counts. We are banking on that to win.”
With both sides eyeing a crucial win, all eyes will be on Ilorin as Katsina United seek to turn adversity into advantage in what promises to be a fiery NPFL fixture.
