President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says he is closely monitoring the security situation across the nation.

The president said this while reacting to the release of the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State.

Bandits had attacked Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Isegun, in Eruku, Ekiti local government area of Kwara state, on Tuesday, kidnapping many worshippers.

In a post on his X handle, Tinubu recalled his cancelled trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to enable him coordinate the security efforts at home, vowing that, “under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.”

The President commended the effort of the security forces over the last few days, saying, “all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued.

He also broke his silence on the mass abduction at a Catholic School in Niger State.

Neither Tinubu nor the Presidency had made any comment on the incident, but there were reactions as the Federal Government shut down 41 Unity Colleges while at least five states closed down schools.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had kicked against the development and asked Tinubu to resign if he was overwhelmed.

But in his post on Sunday, the President vowed not to relent in his bid to secure the nation.

“I am closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline. Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.”

“My fellow Nigerians, You will recall that I cancelled my trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to enable me coordinate the security efforts at home.

“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued.

“I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State, have been recovered.

“I am closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline.

“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he wrote.
