

The Western Naval Command (WNC) of the Nigerian Navy weekend conducted its fourth quarter route march at the Sports Complex, Navy Town Ojo.
The exercise was held in line with the Nigerian Navy Headquarters’ directive aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental alertness, and esprit de corps among personnel.
Officers, ratings, and civilian staff across all formations under the Command participated in the endurance march.
Addressing the participants at the conclusion of the exercise, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral AA Mustapha, commended the high turnout and enthusiasm displayed by the personnel.
Rear Admiral Mustapha stressed that regular physical training remains a vital requirement for operational readiness, particularly for a Command tasked with critical maritime security operations in Nigeria’s Western littoral and the broader Gulf of Guinea.
He emphasized that the route march is more than a ceremonial routine; it is a strategic activity designed to enhance: stamina; discipline; teamwork and 9verall combat efficiency
The FOC urged all officers and ratings to sustain the momentum and continue prioritizing fitness in their daily regimens.
He reiterated the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to professionalism and urged all personnel to remain loyal and focused on the Command’s mission of safeguarding the nation’s maritime environment.
