The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, has arrested a notorious kidnap suspect in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The breakthrough, as stated in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday by the Brigade’s Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lt. Umar Muhammad, was achieved under Operation Zafin Wuta.
“Troops acting on credible intelligence apprehended the suspect, Umar Musa Geyi on 22 November 2025 at Jandei-Kulamu in Wukari.
“Geyi, who has long been on the security watchlist, is believed to be a key member of a kidnapping syndicate responsible for a series of abductions across the area,” the statement read.
According to the army, preliminary investigations linked him to the November 13, 2025 abduction of Alhaji Jano, a resident of the Jandei-Kulala axis, who is still being held by his captors.
Soldiers reportedly intercepted Geyi while he was engaged in a phone conversation in wich he demanded a N20 million ransom.
The suspect is currently in the military custody as efforts intensify to determine the victim’s location and ensure his safe rescue.
The Commander of the Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift and coordinated response.
He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and restoring peace across Taraba State. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing security agencies with timely, actionable information.
