Liverpool’s crisis deepens with humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Forest

Liverpool’s downward spiral accelerated on Saturday as they collapsed at Anfield, suffering a comprehensive and deeply worrying defeat to a revitalised Nottingham Forest.

Arne Slot’s champions, already reeling from a heavy loss to Manchester City, were outclassed in every department by a Forest side transformed under Sean Dyche’s leadership.

The hosts showed no tactical cohesion, no attacking fluency and no on-field authority, raising fresh concerns about Slot’s £450m summer rebuild and the team’s rapidly deteriorating confidence.

Forest seize control early

Record signing Alexander Isak was handed another starting opportunity, but the £125m forward once again failed to influence the contest and was withdrawn after 67 ineffective minutes.

Forest struck first after 33 minutes, with defender Murillo powering a low effort beyond the returning Alisson and immediately quieting an already uneasy Anfield crowd.

Igor Jesus briefly thought he had doubled the advantage before VAR ruled his effort out for handball.

Dyche’s men run riot after the break

Any hope of a Liverpool response evaporated just 47 seconds into the second half when former Reds full-back Neco Williams squared for Nicola Savona to finish clinically in front of The Kop.

Liverpool’s resistance collapsed from there. With 12 minutes remaining, Morgan Gibbs-White fired in Forest’s third after Alisson initially denied Omari Hutchinson, sealing a statement victory for Dyche’s side.

Pressure mounts on Slot as form crashes

Liverpool have now lost six of their last seven Premier League matches, a catastrophic run that places Slot’s high-cost squad overhaul under intensified criticism and leaves their title defence in tatters.
