Bayern 6-2 Freiburg (22 Nov, 2025) Game Analysis

Magnificent Michael Olise’s brace and hat-trick of assists helped Bayern Munich secure a 6-2 comeback win against Freiburg as Vincent Kompany’s side survived a scare in spectacular fashion.

The Bundesliga champions started the season at breakneck pace, winning their first 16 matches in all competitions before being held to a draw at Union Berlin a fortnight ago.

Worse threatened to follow as Freiburg flew out of the blocks and silenced the Allianz Arena as Yuito Suzuki and Johan Manzambi scored from a pair of early corners.

But the visitors’ dreams of a first Bundesliga win away to Bayern would soon be extinguished, with 17-year-old Lennart Karl reducing the deficit before setting up Olise to level just before the break.

Kompany’s side kicked on in a one-sided second half, with Dayot Upamecano and free-scoring England skipper Harry Kane putting them in cruise control.

On-loan substitute Nicolas Jackson added a fifth before Olise expertly wrapped up victory with his second of a memorable afternoon in Bavaria.

It was an emphatic response to Bayern’s 2-2 draw at Union Berlin and Saturday’s slow start.

Freiburg posed questions from the outset and took a 12th-minute lead, when a low corner from the right was smartly flicked on at the near post and Suzuki slammed home.

Julian Schuster’s side extended their advantage with 17 minutes on the clock. Another corner came in from the right and this time Manzambi rose well to head the deep ball beyond Manuel Neuer.

Bayern were stunned but reduced the deficit within five minutes as Olise followed a smart run by fizzing a pass into Karl, who took a touch and eventually slammed past Noah Atubolu.

The tide had now turned, with provider and goalscorer swapping roles in stoppage time as Karl played back for Olise to hit a fizzing strike that was too much for Atubolu.

Teenager Karl saw a goal ruled out for offside after a break which saw Freiburg flounder.

Bayern took the lead when Upamecano coolly converted Olise’s 55th-minute corner and Kane was in the right place to put them further ahead five minutes later.

Substitute Jackson joined in on the act in the 78th minute after Olise cut out the ball and superbly continued forward before slipping him through.

The France international was in sensational form and capped an exceptional individual display by cutting in from the right to score form the edge of the box with six minutes left
