Executive Vice Chairman of Globacom, Bella Disu, has charged Nigerian companies to stop waiting for perfect conditions before making strategic decisions.
She gave the charge during her TEDx Ikoyi presentation titled: ‘Say Yes Now’.
Disu said hesitation destroyed institutions that once dominated their markets.

She cited Kodak which saw digital imaging long before its rivals but failed to act, an action she said contrasted Blockbuster which ignored Netflix at a critical moment.
According to her, Apple faced the same disruption but pushed forward with bold innovation that reshaped its future.
Disu said the difference between both groups of companies was simple.
“One clung to past success while the other created fresh opportunity”, she noted.
The business executive noted that a similar pattern plays out in Nigeria.
She said hitherto popular quick service restaurants had lost their relevance because they refused to evolve.
She said newer brands such as Chicken Republic and Kilimanjaro grew because they responded to shifts in customer behaviour.
Disu also pointed to the rise of fintech firms which introduced ideas that forced banks to adjust long standing operating methods.
She said leadership is not about waiting to feel confident but the ability to recognise opportunity early and move towards it with clarity.
Disu stressed that organisations do not fail due to lack of capacity but due to delay, resistance to change and slow reaction to market signals.
“Momentum emerges from action, not certainty and readiness is created through doing”, she submitted.
