U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has vowed to work
“aggressively” to end the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
Hegseth stated this in a post on X on Friday.
He was sharing an update after meeting Nigeria’s National
Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and his delegation.
“Yesterday, I met with Nigeria’s National Security Advisor
and his team to discuss the horrific violence against Christians in their
country,” Hegseth tweeted.
“Under @POTUS leadership, DOW is working aggressively with
Nigeria to end the persecution of Christians by jihadist terrorists.”
Nigeria’s delegation included Bianca Ojukwu, the Minister of
State for Foreign Affairs; Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police;
Lateef Olasunkami Fagbemi, the Attorney-General of the Federation; General
Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff; and Lt Gen EAP Undiendeye,
the Chief of Defence Intelligence.
