Tunde Olaoluwa Adekunle (born January 20, 1982), often known as Tunde Ednut, is a Nigerian blogger, influencer, entertainer, and musician best known for his blog and songs “Jingle Bell” and “Catching Cold”, which were nominated for best pop single at The Headies Awards in 2013. He is widely recognised as one of Nigeria’s most prominent bloggers.

Ednut was voted the Most ‘Searched Media Personality’ in the Net Honours Class of 2021. That same year, Ynaija named him one of Nigeria’s most powerful young people.

He comes from Kogi State and grew up in Lagos, where he studied Graphic Arts at the University of Lagos before continuing his studies in the United Kingdom, where he got a degree in Graphic Design.

Career

Ednut began his career as a comedian in 2007, when he performed as a guest at the Dyanmix Awards in Nigeria, capturing the attention of the media. In 2008, he was nominated for The Future Award Africa. The same year, Ednut began performing throughout Nigeria and later in the United Kingdom, where he is most known for his comedy works. Ednut received the Award for the most Nigerian Comedian in the UK before returning to Nigeria to pursue a music career.

Ednut began his musical career in 2011 with his debut single, “My Kind Song”. In 2012, he released a remix of “Catching Cold” starring Dr SID. In 2014, he released three songs: “Baby Boo”, “Buga Won”, and “Kosowo”. He would later release “Jingle Bell” in 2016, which was remixed by other Nigerian singers, Mi Abaga, Davido, Tiwa Savage, and Seun Kuti. His musical credits include collaborations with Falz, Ice Prince, Orezi, and others.

Controversy

On December 22, 2020, Ednut’s verified Instagram account, which had over 2.6 million followers, was disabled. According to the People’s Gazette, he violated the app’s community norms, prompting the withdrawal of his account from the platform.

On January 10, 2021, Ednut launched a new Instagram account under the name Kingtundeednut. And because he had already amassed 1 million followers by the early hours of Wednesday, 13 January, it became a trending subject on Twitter. On the same day, Ednut gave away 1 million Nigerian naira to his admirers to celebrate his return to the platform.

Three days after reaching one million followers, the account was disabled again owing to many reports from unknown individuals. The same month, Instagram reactivated Ednut’s account after fellow Nigerian celebrities expressed their support for its restoration.

Meta disabled Ednut’s Instagram account in 2023, which had 7.5 million followers. He did, however, construct another page that has attracted up to 2.2 million fans.
