ABUJA – Music superstars Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade have finally put an end to their seven-year-long feud, sharing an emotional public moment that delighted fans across the country.
The reconciliation took place during the “Price of Being Her” panel at Entertainment Week Africa (EWA) 2025 in Lagos.
Yemi Alade used the platform to praise Tiwa Savage for her resilience and impact on female artists in the industry.
“Those moments when you get rugged and do what you truly went to do … you are standing up for many females. Just continue being you. You’re literally walking in strength,” Yemi told Tiwa, prompting applause from the audience and visible tears from the Afrobeats queen.
The two artists shared a warm hug, symbolizing the end of years of tension that began in 2018.
The feud reportedly started when Yemi made a social media post criticizing female entertainers who “digitally enhance their buttocks” in photos to deceive fans, a comment widely interpreted as aimed at Tiwa Savage.
Tiwa’s strong response fueled the narrative of a rivalry, though both stars have emphasized over the years that there was no personal animosity.
Adding a touch of humor to the reconciliation, Yemi jokingly said she would cook pounded yam for Tiwa, lightening the mood and showing the friendly bond between the two.
Fans and industry observers have hailed the moment as a symbol of women supporting women, with many calling it a refreshing turn in an industry often marked by rivalry.
While controversy and subtle or verbal attacks are not totally unexpected, many entertainment lovers would appreciate if those involved don’t allow them to linger. The industry ought to be one big family where love leads.
The reconciliation may also open doors for potential future collaborations between the two Afrobeats icons.
