The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has arrested 230 suspects linked to drug abuse, trafficking, and other related offences.
At a press briefing in Kano on Friday, the State Commander, ACGN A. I. Ahmad, said the arrests were made during a coordinated 30-day operation that targeted notorious drug hotspots across the state.
He said the operatives seized various illegal substances, including cannabis sativa, EXOL-5, diazepam, codeine syrup, “suck and die,” and rubber solution.

Ahmad also revealed that several locally fabricated weapons were recovered during the raids on identified drug hubs.
According to him, the targeted locations included Kofar Ruwa, Tashar Rami, Rijiyar Lemo, Kurna, Mil Tara, Zage, Dorayi Karshen Waya, Dawanau, Filin Idi, Research, Rimi Market, Zango, Kofar Mata, Kano Line, Ladanai, and other joints known for persistent drug-related activities.
Describing the operation as “a significant milestone,” the commander said the crackdown forms part of the ongoing efforts to restore peace, protect young people, and dismantle criminal networks sustained by illicit substances.
He explained that the operation was carried out under the Kano State Joint Task Force for Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation, and involved multiple security agencies.
Ahmad reaffirmed the NDLEA’s determination to sustain the momentum, stressing that the agency remains committed to ensuring Kano becomes increasingly unsafe for drug traffickers, abusers, and all criminal elements
