A Florida federal court sentenced rapper Sean Kingston to 42 months in prison for his role in a wire fraud scheme that defrauded businesses of over $1 million.
Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were convicted earlier this year for falsely claiming to have paid for jewelry, luxury vehicles, and other high-value items while keeping the goods without completing payments.
The 3.5-year sentence fell between the defense’s request for 2 to 2.5 years, citing Kingston’s clean record and community service, and the prosecution’s push for a term closer to the six-year maximum.
Turner received a five-year sentence in March.Kingston was also ordered to repay victims, with his legal team requesting home confinement to allow him to earn income through music for restitution.
Upon release, he faces supervised release conditions, including drug testing, DNA submission, maintaining lawful employment of at least 30 hours per week, and unannounced visits from his probation officer.
A hearing on victim repayment is set for October 16, 2025.
