The Super Eagles did not qualify for next year’s World Cup, but they will be one of the big favourites to win the 2025 AFCON, according to Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan.
“Nigeria did well, they were close last two years,” Gyan said on the sidelines of the 2025 CAF Awards in Rabat, Morocco.
“Cote d’Ivoire did well, so we have a lot of teams…Morocco are also strong contenders who are also doing well.
“I will say these three teams I mentioned – Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire and Morocco are favourites.”
The 35th AFCON will be played between December 21 and January 18, 2026.
Three-time champions Nigeria are drawn in a first round group with Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda.
