Roger Federer has disclosed that Rafael Nadal deserved to defeat him in the final of the 2008 Wimbledon final to end his winning streak.

Recall that the Swiss claimed five straight titles at the All England Club between 2003 and 2007. He chased another in 2008, only to experience a 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 9-7 defeat to Rafael Nadal in four hours and 48 minutes.

Rafa had lost the previous two Wimbledon finals to Roger and gave everything to prevail in this one and write history books.

Speaking with Tennis World, Federer stated that he played better tennis to overcome.

“I would like to play again the 2009 US Open final against Juan Martin.

“That was one of the matches I should not have lost, and it broke my US Open streak. Another streak ended at Wimbledon in 2008, but it had to be that way.

“Rafa deserved it so much,” Roger Federer said
