Find General Uba ‘Dead or Alive,’ Ndume Tells FG

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South) has urged the Federal Government and security agencies to immediately locate and recover Brigadier General Musa Uba, Commander of 25 Task Force Brigade, Damboa, who was reportedly captured by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno State.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Thursday, the former Senate Army Committee Chairman also called for intensified efforts to safely rescue the 25 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State on Sunday.

General Uba went missing during a fierce encounter with terrorists around Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa LGA. Although Defence Headquarters in Abuja has denied any abduction, insisting the senior officer returned safely to base, unverified videos circulating online purportedly released by the terrorists suggest otherwise.

“I am compelled to speak out on the abduction and whereabouts of Brigadier General Musa Uba and the 25 schoolgirls from Maga,” Ndume said.

“Let the government and security agencies act swiftly to bring back the Brigade Commander, dead or alive, and intensify all efforts to rescue every single one of the abducted girls. Their safe return will reduce the trauma being suffered by their families and the nation.”

Ndume, who represents one of the areas worst hit by insurgency, warned that the escalating wave of terrorism, banditry, and mass abductions in the North-East and North-West demands urgent and decisive action.

While commending troops for their sacrifices, the senator prayed for divine intervention to strengthen ongoing military operations and end the cycle of insecurity across the country.
