The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has
declared Ufoma Immanuel, managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of
Chappal Energies, wanted.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, the anti-graft
agency said Immanuel is wanted for an alleged case of obtaining money by false
pretence and forgery.
“The public is hereby notified that UFOMA JOSEPH IMMANUEL,
whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Obtaining Money by False Pretence and
Forgery,” the statement reads.
“Ufoma Immanuel is 46-year-old indigene of Edo State and his
last known address is: 77, Nelson Mandela Street, Maitama Abuja.”
The EFCC urged members of the public with credible
information to report to its offices across the country, including those in
Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano,
Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt and Abuja.
The notice said tip-offs can also be sent via the EFCC’s
hotline 08093322644 or email info@efcc.gov.ng.
Immanuel was appointed as the managing director of Chappal
Petroleum Development Company ‘Chappal’ in January 2021.
Chappal is an ESG-focused, energy-independent company
established to extract deep value from distressed brownfield upstream
opportunities in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
Immanuel, who is one of the founding partners of Chappal,
was the former head of corporate finance and strategy at Eroton Exploration and
Production.
In September, an $860 million divestment by TotalEnergies to
Chappal Energies collapsed after Chappal failed to meet critical financial
obligations.
