Dogo added that the institution was committed to academic integrity, merit and global best practices.
During the Convocation, the university conferred honorary doctorate degree of political science and international relations on former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Conferring the degree on Jonathan, Professor Dogo said the award was conferred on him for his sterling leadership.
Dogo said Jonathan was one of the best presidents Nigeria has produced, saying his legacy would live on.
In his acceptance speech, Jonathan thanked the university for finding him worthy of the award.
He said, “Let me appreciate the honor you have given to me today. In fact, I always say that honorary doctorate degrees and other honors should not be given to serving officers. It is better when you leave office; then people can appreciate you. So, it should not appear like eye service.”
Jonathan said he was impressed by the quality of learning at Nile University because universities are meant to produce people that will transform society.
In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Mr John Vermaatan, urged the graduands to make the best use of their knowledge.
Vermaatan said, “As you graduate today, I urge each one of you to make best use of the knowledge acquired. Nigeria needs your expertise.”
In his valedictory speech, joint overall best graduating students, Tosam Winter, thanked Nile University and Honoris United Universities for giving the graduands the opportunity to actualize their dreams.
Winter said, “Your dedication has helped shape our future. To our families and parents, thank you for your financial, spiritual, and emotional support. This achievement is yours as much as it is ours.”
Also delivering a valedictory speech, joint overall best graduating student, Fatima Kabir Abubakar, commended the Vice Chancellor, the Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, lecturers, supervisors, and every member of the Nile University Community for their dedication to excellence.
