Nigeria Police Repatriate Wanted Chinese Gang Leader from Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully repatriated Dai Qisheng, a high-profile Chinese fugitive, to China, marking a significant victory against transnational organized crime.

Dai, a notorious gang leader wanted for orchestrating violent crimes in Guizhou Province, fled China in 2024 after an arrest warrant was issued by the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County.

According to DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Dai was tracked and arrested in Abuja on August 8, 2025, through a coordinated effort involving the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, INTERPOL NCB Beijing, and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria.

He was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under a police-to-police cooperation framework facilitated by INTERPOL.Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun praised the operation as a demonstration of Nigeria’s commitment to global security and justice.

“This sends a clear message: Nigeria is not a safe haven for fugitives,” he stated, underscoring the role of intelligence-sharing and international collaboration in tackling transnational crime networks.

Adejobi emphasized that the operation reflects Nigeria’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and strengthening global security through robust law enforcement partnerships.
