Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Kebbi State on the instruction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to meet with the state government and families of the female students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.
The Vice President will hold discussions with Governor Nasiru Idris, traditional rulers, security chiefs, and parents of the kidnapped girls.
He is expected to deliver President Tinubu’s personal assurance that the Federal Government is doing everything possible to secure the immediate and safe release of the students.
During the visit, VP Shettima will also extend the President’s condolences over recent security incidents in the state and restate the administration’s determination to protect schools and learners across Nigeria.
Accompanying the Vice President are the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda; the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro; the Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; and the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Hajiya Zubaida Umar.
The trip comes amid ongoing efforts by security forces to locate and rescue the abducted schoolgirls.
