Hutu Road development flag-off signals new phase for Abuja’s resort-estate market

Mshel Homes Ltd and Aiben Properties launch an infrastructure connecting five luxury estates to the Airport Expressway.

On November 17, 2025, Mshel Homes and Aiben Properties officially launched the Hutu Road Construction in Abuja. This key infrastructure will connect a network of luxury estates under the Hutu Project.

The initiative will extend from the Airport Expressway through Hutu Abuja, Hutu Exclusive, Hutu Prestige, Hutu Royal, and Hutu Pent Haven. It aims to improve connectivity, open new investment corridors, and establish Nigeria’s leading polo and golf resort estate.

Arc. Dr. Barka Umaru Mshelia, Group Managing Director of Mshel Homes, and Chief Dr. Andy Elerewe, Chairman of Aiben Properties, lead this development. Their collaboration brings together expertise in architectural design, strategic planning, and estate development.

The flag-off event drew dignitaries such as Hon. Ekong and Mr. Wassim Kiwan of Kalleen Tech, highlighting multi-sector support and growing investor confidence in Abuja’s real-estate market.

The Hutu Project is designed as a self-sustaining, eco-friendly development that combines residential comfort with world-class recreation. Key features include a championship golf course, polo field and horse ranch, an artificial lake, a children’s amusement park, green area, a modern sports centre, and central power and internal road infrastructure.

The developers describe the project as “a new way of living” that blends leisure, sustainability, and long-term investment growth.

Analysts see the Hutu Project as a shift from traditional estate development to a destination-based living model. By linking multiple estates with a unified road network, the developers are creating a cohesive urban corridor, a planning approach uncommon in Nigeria’s private sector.

The road infrastructure is expected to spur development in hospitality, retail, and logistics, and to increase property values along the route. For investors, it signals a maturing Abuja market with rising demand for lifestyle-focused, eco-conscious estates.

Mshel Homes Ltd and Aiben Properties have reaffirmed their commitment to global standards and sustainable development.

As construction progresses, the road is expected to anchor one of Abuja’s most ambitious private-sector developments: an integrated resort estate that combines leisure, value creation, and environmental responsibility.

The flag-off of the Hutu Road is more than a ceremonial start, it represents a strategic alignment of vision and investment. Abuja’s real estate market offers a forward-looking model that connects infrastructure, innovation, and lifestyle, positioning the Hutu Project as a potential landmark in Nigeria’s property landscape.
