Norbert Okolie: SWAN Enugu pays tribute to late Rangers media officer


The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Enugu state chapter, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the late Rangers International FC, media officer, Comrade Nobert Okolie.

Chairman of the Association, Comrade Gideon Iwueke, in a statement described Okolie as not just a media practitioner but a pillar of professionalism.

Okolie was the immediate former chairman of the Enugu SWAN.

‎”The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Enugu State Chapter, received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Mr. Norbert Okolie, the esteemed Media Officer of Rangers International Football Club, who departed this life on 16 November 2025 after a prolonged illness.

‎”A former Enugu state SWAN chairman, Mr. Okolie was more than a media practitioner; he was a pillar of professionalism whose contributions enriched Nigerian sports journalism. 

‎”Born on 23 September 1973, he built an admirable legacy as an international journalist and photojournalist. 

“‎His calm disposition, exceptional work ethic, and unwavering dedication earned him respect across the sports community at home and abroad.

‎”We mourn with the Okolie family, Rangers International FC, and the entire sports fraternity over this painful loss. His departure has created a void that will be difficult to fill, but his memory and the impact of his work will continue to inspire generations of sports journalists.

‎”SWAN Enugu Chapter prays for strength and comfort for his family and all who are grieving. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement reads.
