Ikorodu City’s technical adviser, Bright Ozebagbe, has voiced concerns over his team’s performance despite a hard-fought 2-1 win against Plateau United.
Joseph Arumala and Alade Balogun scored for Ikorodu City, while Wisdom Ndom pulled one back for Plateau United. However, Ozebagbe was not pleased with the goal his side conceded, attributing it to a lapse in concentration.
“I’m disappointed with our failure to keep a clean sheet in the game against Plateau United,” Ozebagbe told the club’s media team. “We worked on defending throws close to the box, but the players switched off at that moment and the goal came in. I am not happy with it.”
The win, however, lifts Ikorodu City to the top of the league table.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa United’s technical adviser, Meremu Okara, praised his players’ determination in a 2-1 triumph over Abia Warriors at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa. Chinedu Emmanuel’s brace sealed the win, with Sunday Megwo scoring for Abia Warriors.
Okara highlighted the team’s commitment following a tense encounter. “The victory was achieved through hard work and determination,” he said. “We have been in the danger zone on the league table, but this win will push us into the top half. With our recent performances, we are moving in the right direction.”
The win takes Bayelsa United to 10th place with 18 points.
Nasarawa United, on the other hand, will need to regroup after a 1-1 draw with Kun Khalifat FC in Owerri, which saw them drop to second on the table. The Solid Miners are preparing for a crucial home clash against El-Kanemi Warriors at the Lafia City Stadium this weekend.
Technical adviser Mbwas Mangut emphasised the need for improvement. “We expect to work hard and smart to face El-Kanemi Warriors, another strong team, in our next game at home, to pick up the maximum points,” Mangut told the club’s media team. He recalled that Nasarawa United fell 4-3 to the same opponents in their previous encounter.
