The Institute of Quality Assurance of Nigeria (IQAN) has honoured the President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Alhaji Farouk Rabiu-Mudi, with an honorary patron and fellowship award for his exemplary leadership and contributions to national food security.
The award was presented on Monday during a roundtable meeting in Abuja, where participants commended Rabiu-Mudi’s long-standing commitment to promoting food security, advancing agricultural policies and supporting rural communities.
Prof. Victor Akpan, Chief Executive Officer of IQAN, described the AFAN president as “a transformational figure whose dedication to the agricultural sector has positively impacted millions of farmers nationwide”.
He said the Fellowship Award is the institute’s highest honour, reserved for individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to standards, ethics and quality assurance in their fields.
Akpan noted that AFAN’s leadership continues to drive improved food production and strengthen national food security, adding that food remains the foundation for development.
Also honoured as fellows were AFAN’s First Deputy President, Mr John Olateru; National Publicity Secretary, Mr Ibrahim Garba; and National Organising Secretary, Dr John Barbington, for their dedication to the association’s vision and objectives.
Responding, Rabiu-Mudi thanked the institute for the recognition, saying it would further motivate AFAN to champion the interests of Nigerian farmers.
He reaffirmed AFAN’s commitment to working with stakeholders to strengthen the agricultural value chain and boost national food production.
The ceremony ended with a call for deeper collaboration among policymakers, institutions and farmer groups to promote sustainable agricultural growth across the country. (NAN)
