Senator Isa Galaudu, the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2019 general elections in Kebbi State, has resigned his membership from the party, citing internal crises and external influences as reasons for his departure.
The announcement, made public through a letter dated August 20, 2025, has sent ripples through the political landscape of Kebbi State.Galaudu, who served as Chief of Staff to a former Senate President and represented Kebbi North in the Senate from 2011 to 2015, addressed his resignation to the PDP Ward Chairman in Augie North, Muhammadu Danbuga.
In the letter, he stated that his decision to leave was driven by “ongoing developments within the PDP” and what he described as the party’s “looming collapse.”
He further alleged that the PDP is being undermined by politicians aligned with the national ruling party, rendering it ineffective as an opposition force.
“It is obvious that the PDP is being controlled by politicians of the national ruling party,” Galaudu wrote, emphasizing that his exit was effective immediately.
The former banker and board member of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, did not disclose his next political move, leaving supporters and analysts speculating about whether he will join another party or retire from active politics.
His resignation adds to the PDP’s challenges in Kebbi State, where the party has struggled to regain ground since losing the governorship in 2015.
