JéGO Technologies Inc. has unveiled its newest electric vehicle – the JéGO Zero Carbon – signalling a major leap forward in Nigeria’s electric mobility revolution.

The high-intelligence EV, introduced by JéGO Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Frederick Akpoghene, at the 5th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (ICAIR) at the University of Lagos, represents a bold step toward cleaner, smarter, and Nigeria-ready transportation.

Built for Nigeria’s Toughest Terrains

Akpoghene emphasised that the Zero Carbon was engineered specifically for the realities of African roads, with Nigeria as the centrepiece of its design philosophy. To prove its capacity, the JéGO team embarked on a 505 km real-world endurance run from Ajah in Lagos, through Ikoyi, to Osun State and back – all without recharging.

During the expedition, the EV’s performance stood out as it tackled steep, muddy slopes after rainfall, passed through rural and unpaved roads, and manoeuvred through tight, pothole-ridden bends with the aid of its 360° surround cameras.

It even surpassed several combustion-engine vehicles that were forced to stop or divert. Throughout the journey, the vehicle maintained optimal stability, cooling, and traction across the diverse road conditions.

Inside the cabin, comfort was equally remarkable. A built-in mini-fridge – capable of holding four bottles – kept the team refreshed, reinforcing the EV’s reputation as “an office on wheels”.

A Trailblazing First: Police Officer at the Wheel

A standout feature of the journey was that the entire Lagos–Osun–Lagos trip was driven by a serving Nigerian Police Officer, Officer Ebenezer. His hands-on experience offered a rare professional perspective on the vehicle’s resilience.

He attested to its stability, driving comfort, and overall strength under the type of conditions frequently encountered in national security operations.

Taking EVs to the People

The endurance expedition followed an invitation from JéGO’s clean-energy partners, PAM, to their Net Zero Village in Osun State. The mission was simple: show that electric vehicles are not luxury items but everyday tools for ordinary Nigerians.

“JéGO EVs are for everyday Nigerians – young founders, businesswomen and men, government workers, first responders, and the police force,” Akpoghene said, as local residents, climate advocates, engineers, and young innovators explored the Zero Carbon up close. Many expressed excitement at seeing a technologically advanced EV designed specifically for Nigerian realities.

Government Officials Impressed by Unbroken Journey

The JéGO team also met with Osun State officials, who were astonished by the EV’s ability to complete a 500+ km journey on a single charge, navigate rural terrain, and return the same day without stopping to recharge.

When asked how they planned to get back to Lagos, the team’s response – “Our police driver will take us back” – reinforced the vehicle’s reliability and suitability for government deployment.

The Zero Carbon is now being considered a strong candidate for state mobility fleets, inter-agency logistics, community policing, and other government-backed operations requiring dependable long-distance travel.

JéGO EV and Energy Factory Set for Nigeria

Buoyed by the successful performance of the Zero Carbon, JéGO confirmed that it is moving ahead with plans to establish its first Nigerian clean-energy and EV manufacturing facility.

According to the company, several states have already expressed interest, offering land, industrial incentives, tax-friendly frameworks, labour partnerships, and long-term collaboration opportunities.

The proposed factory will house local EV assembly, PowerPod and battery production, SKD/CKD operations, diagnostics and servicing, and wider manufacturing activities – opening pathways for exports across West Africa.

Akpoghene said the final site selection would depend on infrastructure readiness, energy access, logistics suitability, and government partnership strength.

Smart Engineering with Minimalist Design

The Zero Carbon’s technical highlights include a 505 km driving range, 360° surround-view cameras, hill-assist and traction control, anti-skid systems for wet and muddy roads, intelligent battery management, regenerative braking, powerful LED illumination, and robust cooling systems.

Drivers praised its quiet engine, smooth handling, and comfortable interior across various terrain types.

Powering EVs Through Clean Energy

The EV supports multiple charging options – home charging, public charging, solar charging via JéGO PowerPods, and fast charging.

The company’s PowerPods are designed to give households, SMEs, and security agencies the ability to operate EVs independently of the national grid, boosting reliability and energy autonomy.

To ensure widespread adoption, JéGO is offering lease-to-own packages and staff purchase programmes for institutions and private users.

The scheme is expected to particularly benefit SMEs, ride-hailing drivers, government agencies, and families looking to adopt future-ready mobility without heavy upfront costs.

Nigeria’s Mobility Future Is Already Here

The Osun State demonstration cements the Zero Carbon as a vehicle ready for Nigerian roads and Nigerian-scale problems, with reliability proven under the hands of a police officer on duty-level terrain.

Akpoghene noted that “Nigeria isn’t waiting for the world. We are building our own mobility and energy ecosystem. The Zero Carbon proves that clean, intelligent, long-distance mobility is achievable across Nigeria – even under police operation.”

JéGO plans to expand the rollout of EVs, PowerPods, and JéGO X charging stations across key states, ahead of the commissioning of its Nigerian factory – pushing the country further into a new era of sustainable mobility, manufacturing, and energy independence.
