Lisa Harper (b. 1963) is a Christian author, Bible instructor, and speaker. She has published books and bible study curricula, organised Christian women’s conferences, and has been hosting the podcast Back Porch Theology since 2022.
Lisa Harper Biography
Harper is a native of Central Florida. She obtained a Master of Theological Studies from Covenant Seminary, finished doctoral studies at Denver Seminary, and was working on her thesis as of 2025.
Career
Harper worked as the director of Women’s Outreach at Focus on the Family for six years, during which time she created the “Renewing the Heart” conferences, which were attended by 150,000-200,000 women in the late 1990s. She speaks at major multi-denominational gatherings and in churches all over the world.
She reassures women that they are not alone by providing biblical lessons and workshops, as well as a secure space for them to be candid about their challenges balancing their daily and spiritual lives.
For ten years, she toured with “Women of Faith,” delivering teachings of God’s unconditional love to more than a million women. Throughout her ministry, she recognised the need to encourage and strengthen women of all ages in their faith and provide a clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
She was an executive producer on the Renewing the Heart Live Albums, which produced multiple No. 1 Christian radio singles, and has appeared on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. She’s created Bible study video curricula that provide historical context and use pop-culture allusions to help people connect with biblical stories and characters.
Examples include those for Hebrews, the Old Testament Minor Prophets, the Song of Solomon, and Job. She has also written books that have been described as spiritually introspective life teachings, employing humour, personal tales, and her storytelling abilities to inspire readers to seek an intimate connection with God.
Her podcast, “Back Porch Theology”, has been nominated for the K-Love Podcast of the Year Fan Award for three years running. Harper hosts the podcast alongside Allison Allen, an actor and playwright, and Jim Howard, a Denver Seminary professor.
