Industrial Training Fund denies relocation rumours, reaffirms Jos as permanent headquarters

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has strongly denied recent rumours suggesting plans to relocate its headquarters from Jos, Plateau State, calling such reports “false” and “unfounded.”

The agency made this known in a statement signed by Thomas Ngor, its head of press and public relations, issued to journalists on Friday in Jos.

The rumours reportedly gained traction following a motion raised by Theodore Bala Maiyaki, member representing Quaan-Pan South Constituency, during a recent plenary session of the Plateau State House of Assembly. Maiyaki had raised the issue as a Matter of urgent public importance, sparking public concern and speculation.

While acknowledging the Honourable Member’s right and responsibility to advocate for his constituency, the ITF described his motion as “alarmist” and based on inaccurate information. The agency warned that such claims could strain the longstanding cordial relationship between the Fund and the people of Plateau State.

The ITF clarified that no internal or external processes have been initiated or considered for relocating the headquarters. It emphasized that any such decision would involve the Management, the Governing Council, and the supervising Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment—none of whom have proposed or discussed a move.

Reaffirming its historical ties to Plateau State, the ITF stated that Jos has served as its operational base since 1976, when the headquarters was officially relocated from Lagos. The agency credited this move with contributing significantly to the socio-economic growth of the state over the decades.

“The ITF remains deeply committed to fostering industrial and economic development in Plateau State and across Nigeria, with Jos as the centre of its operations for the foreseeable future,” the statement read.

The Fund also welcomed ongoing dialogue with the Plateau State government and stakeholders to promote mutual understanding and collaboration.

The agency urged the public to disregard the relocation rumours and reiterated its dedication to its responsibilities in Jos. It assured stakeholders that there are no plans to move the ITF headquarters from its current location.
