Breaking: Wike speaks on ‘expulsion from PDP’

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, has described the recent expulsion of his principals, Nyesom Wike and former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose, by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) faction as “Dirty December in November.”

In a statement on Saturday, Olayinka said PDP members had gathered in Ibadan for celebrations well before December, suggesting that comments from the convention should be viewed as the product of a social, intoxicated atmosphere.

“They went to Ibadan to start their own Dirty December in November. When people decide to start their Dirty December early, one can’t help but ignore whatever comes out of their mouths,” he said, adding that the gathering was primarily for social enjoyment and that statements made in such a setting should not be taken seriously.

Earlier reports confirmed that the PDP faction expelled former Rivers state governor and current FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, factional national secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, former Ekiti dtate Governor Ayo Fayose, among others over alleged anti-party activities.

The motion for their expulsion, unanimously approved by delegates at the ongoing PDP National Convention in Ibadan, was moved by party founding father Chief Bode George and seconded by Bauchi state PDP chairman.
