The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has taken into custody a suspected high-profile vandal wanted in the state.
DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer, announced this in a statement provided to reporters in Uyo, the state capital, on Saturday.
John stated that the police apprehended the suspect during an intelligence-led raid around 9:30 pm on August 18.

She explained that, acting on credible information, the command’s operatives conducted a raid on the residence of the suspect, a 23-year-old male from Midim Water Side.
John revealed that the suspect had previously fled the community after being wanted for vandalizing school buildings and private homes.
“Upon arrival, officers sighted the suspect and several other unknown individuals.
“The suspect was apprehended during the raid, while the others escaped into a nearby creek on sighting the police vehicle,” John said.
John disclosed that authorities seized a small bag containing what appeared to be cannabis leaves, four door handles, a mini flashlight, and several fragments of damaged door locks from the scene.
The command’s spokesperson confirmed that the suspect is now in police custody.
“Authorities are asking victims of recent vandalism in the area to come forward to provide identification and statements to assist with the ongoing investigation and prosecution,” John said.
