Cardi B has welcomed her fourth child, a baby boy who is her first with American football player Stefon Diggs. The US rapper announced the news on Instagram, celebrating both the birth and her new album.
In her post, she wrote: “I brought new music and a new album to the world! A new baby into my world, and one more reason to be the best version of me, one more reason to love me more than anything else or anyone else.”
The Grammy winner recently released her long awaited sophomore album, Am I The Drama?, urging fans to buy it to help cover the cost of nappies. Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, shares three children with her estranged husband Offset, from whom she filed for divorce in July 2024.
Her spokesperson told People magazine that the rapper had given birth to a healthy baby boy, although no further details were shared. Representatives for Cardi B did not immediately respond to the BBC’s requests for comment.
Diggs, whom she has been dating for around a year, revealed the baby’s sex during a red carpet appearance earlier this month. “It’s a boy. That’s enough for me,” the New England Patriots wide receiver told People. “I can’t wait to make him do push-ups and sit-ups and run around.” The child is Diggs’ second, as he also has a nine year old daughter from a previous relationship.
Cardi B, 33, hinted on Instagram that the birth marks a fresh start, sharing a clip from her single Hello and reflecting on her split from Offset, with whom she shares daughters Kulture and Blossom and son Wave. She said being a better version of herself allows her to “continue giving my babies the love and life they deserve”.
“This next chapter is Me vs. Me! It’s me against all odds me against everything meant to get in my way,” she wrote to her 163 million followers.
She added that she is preparing for a tour tied to her new album and working on her physical and mental readiness to give fans the “performance of a lifetime”.
“I’ve learned I’ve healed, and I’m loving the woman I’ve become! That’s what this next era means to me and I’m stepping into it better than ever,” she said.
