PSM commends Tinubu  over Marwa’s reappointment

The Progressive Students Movement has hailed the reappointment of Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd.) as Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, describing the decision as “a right move in the right direction.”

PSM President, Comrade Okereafor Bestman, in a statement issued on Friday, said the group viewed President Bola Tinubu’s approval of a fresh five-year term for Marwa as a progressive and commendable step.

He said Marwa’s leadership had transformed the NDLEA into a more proactive and efficient agency, noting that its achievements had become “remarkable and significant.”

According to the statement, the agency under Marwa recorded numerous breakthroughs, including the arrest of 73,000 drug mules and barons, as well as the seizure of more than 15 million kilogrammes of hard drugs. It also cited the recent interception of a 1,000-kilogramme cocaine consignment, described as the largest single seizure in the country.

PSM further applauded the performance of the agency’s Ogun State Command under Commander T. Rabe, while urging Nigerians to continue supporting efforts to rid the society of drug abuse.
