Filmhouse Group, WinlitFest 2025 partner to champion future of African storytelling

Storytelling is indeed taking a position of power in the emerging economies but unfortunately in an unstructured manner unlike in the past.

Filmhouse Group, West Africa’s leading film exhibition and entertainment company, has announced a strategic partnership for the 4th edition of the Writers Interactive Network Literary Festival (WinlitFest 2025), a premier literary and arts festival celebrating the next generation of African storytellers.

Set to take place at the British Council over the weekend, the festival will bring together emerging and established voices across literature, film, and the creative arts.

Now in its fourth edition, WinlitFest continues to serve as a cultural hub for writers, filmmakers, and creative thinkers, spotlighting the deep connection between literature and film.

Through this collaboration, Filmhouse Group reinforces its commitment to building a full-circle storytelling ecosystem to nurture talents. The partnership also aligns with the company’s corporate social responsibility focus on youth empowerment, cultural development, and creative industry innovation.

Mojisola Oladapo, Chief Marketing Officer, Filmhouse Group, said:
“Storytelling has always been at the heart of what we do at Filmhouse. Through this partnership with WinlitFest, we’re celebrating literary creativity and also creating a bridge between writers and the film industry; ensuring that the next generation of African storytellers are seen, heard, and empowered.”

Abraham John Onoja, Founder and President of the Writers Interactive Network and Convener, added:
“The fourth edition of WinlitFest marks a pivotal moment for Africa’s creative future. Our partnership with Filmhouse Group goes beyond collaboration, it reflects a shared commitment to building a sustainable pipeline for African stories to thrive.

“At WinlitFest, we are intentional about creating a platform where young writers can develop their craft, engage industry leaders, and translate their ideas from the page to the screen. Together with Filmhouse, we are expanding opportunities, strengthening the creative ecosystem, and ensuring that African narratives continue to shape global conversations.”

By empowering young storytellers and fostering collaborations that merge literature, film, and innovation, Filmhouse Group continues to champion the growth of Africa’s creative economy.

Through partnerships like WinlitFest, the Group reaffirms its belief that every great film begins with inspiring literature — and that investing in emerging voices today is how we shape the continent’s cultural legacy for the future of storytelling.
