Ebonyi state Police Command Thursday presented the sum of N24,398,763.15k to families of deceased officers.
The claims was said to be group life assurance and IGP welfare scheme.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu , he said the State Commissioner of Police handed the cheques to the next of Kin of the deceased officers.
The statement reads, “The Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, presented cheques worth Twenty Four Million, Three Hundred and Ninety Eight thousand, Seven Hundred and Sixty-three Naira, Fifteen Kobo (N24,398,763.15k) only to Thirty-Two beneficiaries who are next of kin to deceased police officers serving in Ebonyi State Command.
“The payment is a claim settlement for the Group Life Assurance and the IGP Family Welfare scheme.
“The Commissioner of Police, who empathised with the families of the deceased officers in the presence of the command’s management team, charged the recipients to put to good use what they have received and also take care of the dependents left behind by the deceased officers”.
One of the beneficiaries Mr. Nwaeze Okechukwu and Mrs. Nwonu Eunice expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his unwavering commitment to their welfare, prayed that God would protect the officers, and promised that they would use the money to uplift their various families.
