Makinde 2027 Presidency Banners Flood PDP Convention Venue In Ibadan

Banners projecting Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for the 2027 presidential race flooded the Ibadan venue of the Peoples Democratic Party’s national convention on Friday.

At the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, the designated venue for the PDP’s November 15–16 national convention, large campaign posters bearing Makinde’s photograph were mounted prominently at the entrance and around the facility.

One banner, credited to a group identified as Lana Fun Seyi, boldly read: “Seyi Makinde for President.”

Another banner, signed by Fapetu Stephen from Ido Local Government, declared: “Relax, Seyi Makinde will fix Nigeria 2027.”

The displays immediately drew attention from delegates, party chieftains and observers arriving in the Oyo State capital for the convention.

Though rumours about Makinde’s presidential ambition have circulated for months, the governor has repeatedly said he would make his intentions public “when the time is right.”

He also dismissed earlier speculations as “unsolicited commentary,” insisting he does not require permission to speak on his political future.

The stadium was also decorated with posters of other PDP leaders contesting national offices. Campaign banners for Kabiru Turaki, a former Minister of Special Duties seeking the national chairmanship, were sighted across strategic points.

Supporters of former Deputy National Chairman, Taofeek Arapaja, also mounted posters promoting his ambition to become the PDP National Secretary.

The colourful displays by various support groups, state chapters and aspirants created a vibrant pre-convention atmosphere as thousands of delegates arrived in Ibadan.

The convention is expected to produce a new National Working Committee (NWC) that will steer the affairs of the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
