The Enugu State Police Command has arraigned Okonkwo Chisom, 29, for allegedly making false claims that her husband, Okonkwo Ozioma, defiled their two daughters, aged 5 and 3.
Chisom lodged the complaint on October 25, 2025, at Emene Police Division, alleging ongoing abuse and death threats.
However, police investigations found the accusations baseless.Detectives established that the alleged incidents in 2024 and 2025 occurred while Chisom was away in Imo State with the children.
The couple’s 7-year-old son, in two handwritten statements and video evidence, revealed that his mother coached him and his sisters to lie against their father.
Chisom later attempted to withdraw the case as the truth emerged. She was charged with two counts of defamation and providing false information, arraigned before the Enugu State Magistrate Court, granted bail, and the case adjourned.
Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, praised the State Intelligence Department for its impartial probe and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to justice.
He warned: “Anyone making false or malicious allegations will face prosecution under the law.”
