Sunshine Stars have appointed Bobola Akinfolarin as their new head coach ahead of the 2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

Akinfolarin was officially unveiled at the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) headquarters, where he signed a one-year contract with the Akure-based side.

He previously served as technical director of Sunshine Queens FC and has worked as an assistant coach under several top managers, including Bala Abubakar, Kennedy Boboye and Kayode Olujoungbe.

A holder of a CAF B Coaching Licence and an Advanced Certificate from the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Akinfolarin steps in as Sunshine Stars look to rebuild following their relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season.

The club opens its NNL campaign this weekend with an away fixture against Edel FC in Owerri.
