Super Falcons star Esther Okoronkwo scored a 27-minute hattrick for Toronto FC to inspire them to a 4-1 win over Montreal Roses in the Canadian Nothern Super League playoffs on Tuesday.
Okoronkwo, who is a nominee for the CAF Women’s player of the year, once again proved her quality for her Canadian side.
The 28-year-old forward opened the scoring in the 6th minute after she was located with a square ball in the box.

She made no mistake despite pressure from the on-rushing goalkeeper, and converted from close range.
Her second goal was from a free-kick. She beat the goalkeeper at her near post with a low shot which trickled into the net after the goalkeeper initially fumbled it.
Then, her third goal was just pure class. Okoronkwo tried a cross from the edge of the box, but the defender’s clearance got back straight to her.
The Super Falcons star bullied her way past four defenders and struck a low shot to make it 3-0 in the 27th minute.

Is Esther Okoronkwo The Favourite For The CAF Awards?
Esther Okoronkwo is one of the top nominees for the CAF Best Women’s Player of the Year. In fact, the only people who can give her a run for her money are Barbra Banda and Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

Okoronkwo was a star performer for Nigeria at the last Women’s Africa Cup of Nations which they won. She was the one that even changed the game in the final of the competition against Morocco.
She has also being shining for Toronto FC since she joined. Her hattrick was just just testament of how well she has performed this season.
It won’t be a surprise if she is crowned the best player on the continent when the awards take place in Rabat, Morocco, on November 19.
